X-Men: Henry Cavill suits up as Cyclops in stunning image

The idea of Henry Cavill joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a dream to Marvel fans and after seeing the actor suit up as Cyclops we can see why.

Now more than ever, there are plenty of projects to look forward to as Marvel fans. Not only is Marvel Studios still going strong with its expansive cinematic universe, but the billion-dollar franchise has now expanded into other mediums with the launch of its various Disney Plus originals.

Several titles are already confirmed with even more mysterious projects said to be in development from the studio incorporating both previously introduced characters and characters we’ve yet to make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.

Among the titles fans are eagerly awaiting news on is the studios’ plan for the X-Men franchise, which only just recently became available to Marvel Studios after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox.

Given the popularity of the franchise and its iconic characters, one can’t imagine Marvel will keep fans waiting too long before announcing its first X-Men project. When this time finally comes, the assumption is that Marvel Studios will look to introduce fans to new iterations of the franchise’s most iconic characters.

While a lot of eyes are on who might play Wolverine in the MCU, another iconic X-Men hero fans are eager to see make his MCU debut is the team’s long-time leader: Cyclops.

What Henry Cavill could look like as Cyclops in the MCU

There are a lot of actors who would be a good fit for the role of Cyclops, but one recently emerging favorite is a man who is no stranger to leading superhero franchises on the big screen: the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill.

With his time at DC up in the air, Cavill has become a frontrunner to join the MCU with fan dream cast theories running rampant as of late. While some have floated the idea of Cavill playing Wolverine or perhaps Captain Britain, many others have expressed a desire to see Cavill tackle a less obvious role by taking up the mantle of Cyclops within the MCU.

As fans continue to debate who Cavill should play, digital artist Daniel Savage took to Instagram to share a stunning edit envisioning The Witcher actor as the X-Men’s iconic leader.

In the incredible concept art, the artist transforms Cavill into Cyclops with a design that flawlessly captures the essence of the character’s most iconic costume from over the years. The modern spin of Cyclops’ signature blue and yellow suit is movie-ready, and can we please take a minute to recognize the jaw-dropping adaptation of Cyclops’ signature visor used to channel his energy beams!

Maybe it’s the design or maybe it’s seeing Cavill suit up as Cyclops, but the key art absolutely gives us chills and makes a compelling argument for why he’d be perfect in the role if given the chance.

Is Henry Cavill joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

At this time, it’s unclear whether Henry Cavill might be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the actor has voiced an interest in joining the MCU. In fact, he’s even got his eyes on one particular character: Captain Britain.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill revealed he not only has an interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe but that he’d love to do so by portraying a modernized version of Captain Britain — a character fans have long hoped he might portray.

"“I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British,” Cavill revealed."

If we were to fan-cast him on the spot, we have to admit the above fan art makes a compelling argument for why he should play Cyclops in the MCU. Not only does he look the part, but Cavill could be the perfect actor to introduce Cyclops to a new generation and make the hero more respected than past iterations have been.

However, we also have to confess we would love to see Cavill put his spin on Captain Britain and know he’d bring so much to the character! Regardless of who he ends up playing, we know he’ll deliver an incredible performance.
