Mariah Carey to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Mariah Carey is having her dream come true! She will open for Santa Claus this year at the 96th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, headlining the streets of Manhattan. In an Instagram post, the New York native and performer announced the exciting news.
While this will not be the first time that Mariah will be included in the parade’s celebrations (she performed in 2015), it will hold a meaningful light as the audience will see the unofficial Queen of Christmas and Santa Claus for the first time together. NBC, the broadcaster for the parade, defines it as a “historical parade finale.”
And the song that Mariah has chosen for the extraordinary occasion? Naturally, she will perform “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” her trademark song of nearly thirty years, to ring in the holiday season.
Following her parade’s event, Mariah has a few yuletide ventures booked. Her holiday revue kicks off in Toronto on December 11th and curtains on December 13th in New York. Not long after, CBS and Paramount+ will broadcast her holiday concert, Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas To All, on December 20th.

More Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade performers and surprises
Mariah will not be the only one giving a festive performance. Gloria Estefan, Jordin Sparks, Joss Stone, Paula Abdul, and the legendary Dionne Warwick are also part of the impressive musical lineup.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is not only known for its celebrity appearances and a visit from Old Saint Nick. The giant, sky-scraper high balloons and colorful floats have been making their ceremonial mark since 1927. And this year will be no exception. There will be new balloons and floats, including the loveable blue heeler pup Bluey from the Australian children’s program, Bluey, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Stuart the Minion, and Sinclair Oil’s Dino and Baby Dino. And let’s not forget the returning favorites that will surely bring a smile to the young and young at heart: Astronaut Snoopy, Pikachu and Eevee, Spongebob Squarepants, Grogu (Baby Yoda), and Tiptoe the Reindeer-the mascot of Macy’s holiday campaign and charities.
This is just the front end of the annual parade, as there will be plenty of other features to enjoy, including clowns, marching bands, and broadway performances.
The 96th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on November 24th at 9 AM EST on NBC and stream live on Peacock. Visit the official site to learn more about the parade, its history, and all of this year’s fun highlights.
