Love Me season 2 on Binge starts production in Melbourne
The Logie Award-winning Binge drama, Love Me, began production on its second season in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, late last week. The series follows the Mathieson family as they seek love and cope with loss at their respective ages. The patriarch, sixty-four-year-old Glen (Hugo Weaving), is adjusting to life after his wife’s death and finds a new revival when he meets a woman on vacation.
Clara, his career-driven daughter, is about to turn forty and has started a romance with her model neighbor, Peter K (Bob Morley), that is both complicated and compassionate. Then, there is the youngest, Aaron, a twenty-something college student on a career path and trying to balance adulting and relationships.
Binge released the first four promotional photos of the second season this past Thursday.
In season one of Love Me, viewers were introduced to the Mathiesons, quickly finding relevance with them. Season two will continue the family’s journeys and encounter new people and life’s hardships.
Alison Hubert-Burns, Binge’s Executive Director, gave the following in a press release:
"“We are thrilled to be back shooting in Melbourne for the next chapter of Love Me with our incredible cast and creative team. Season one resonated with Australian viewers. We can’t wait to pick up the story of The Mathiesons as they realize that with the euphoria of love comes the complexities of relationships.”"
Bonnie Moir will replace Emma Freeman as director, and her storytelling vision is sure to be awe-inspiring. Under Freeman’s direction, the immense cityscape of Melbourne and its surrounding areas were captured beautifully, and the character narratives were expressed realistically. For a series, it is extremely rare to achieve both elements.
Season one of Love Me premiered on December 26th in Australia, with the US debut arriving in April 2022 on the streamer Hulu. The latter met with both critical and consumer success in the American market.
It is unclear when the second season will air in Australia and the US, but if the current production mirrors the last, a trailer should be released within a month with the airdate.
In the meantime, all six chapters are available on Binge Australia and Hulu.
