Season 3 of Stargirl is all about Frenemies, and it has been doing a good job of reminding us who the friends, enemies, and frenemies might be. But at the same time, they are also building friendships between some of the most unlikely characters as well.

In episode 4 (or Chapter Four if you will), Stargirl was all about “The Evidence.” From finding Sylvester battered and broken at a crime scene to the Dragon King reveal, a lot went down in this episode. And yet, there was something missing. (It was a good episode, but we wanted more.)

The thing about Stargirl is that it has a tendency to drag its feet a bit or let characters languish. We have an awfully big cast of characters that they are trying to give screen time to, and at this point, it is leaving us with a story that doesn’t feel like it is moving forward in a satisfying manner (yet).

Stargirl was all about “The Evidence” in Chapter Four

I’m glad they revealed the idea of the Dragon King being back because it almost felt too obvious that he was after we saw those glimpses of the hand on the table spying on the town. (I kept saying that is the Dragon King!) However, I don’t think he is the one behind the death of The Gambler or the attack on Sylvester (Starman).

In fact, for me, this felt more like something Cameron did without even realizing it. That scene where we see him freeze the snow globe with the Starman (or Stargirl) figure in the center after he shook it, followed by him dropping and shattering the snow globe seemed an awful lot like what happened to Sylvester. And the way the camera did that close-up on the carnage of the shattered globe made it seem like the biggest bit of evidence in the entire episode.

Is that what happened? We have no idea. And we may not for a while. Because Sylvester has no idea who attacked him and if the “person” who attacked him wasn’t even there at the time, he probably wouldn’t have seen anyone.

Of course, my idea of what that scene meant might mean nothing and it could be my own overactive imagination. But if this episode is all about “The Evidence,” then we can’t ignore the things that we saw that others in the show didn’t. And we can’t forget that there are things we saw that might have more meaning than whatever is being actively revealed.

Beyond the Dragon King evidence, we have much more to learn about what happened to The Gambler and who attacked Sylvester. So while we got some evidence out of this episode, it seems like this was also all about the clues for us too.

But I want to know what you thought of Stargirl’s episode 4. Do you think the show is moving a little too slowly in this storyline? Or are you satisfied with the direction this story is going? Also, do you think that what is happening with Cameron may have more significance than we know?
