The Mathieson family is returning home!  The Australian streamer Binge’s popular romantic drama, Love Me, has been officially renewed for season two.

The news comes a few days before Australia’s most significant televised awards ceremony, The Logies.  Equivalent to the Emmys in the US, The Logies recognizes tv’s best of the best and is hosted on the Australian Gold Coast.  For 2022, Love Me has several category nominations, including Most Popular Actor, Most Popular actress, and Most Popular Drama Series.

Premiering on Boxing Day 2021 (December 26th), Love Me became an overnight hit on Binge, paired with becoming the “most-watched Australian series.”  In the six-episode first season, the Mathison family, residing in Melbourne, experience love at their respective ages.  Glenn (Hugo Weaving) is a widower in his sixties who remarries.  His daughter Clara (Bojana Novakovic), a successful anesthesiologist on the brink of forty, ignites passion with a male model (Bob Morley).  And finally, there is Aaron (William Loggins), a young man in his twenties who juggles romance and academics but struggles with life as a whole.

Aside from its talented cast, what makes Love Me even more incredible, is that production occurred when Melbourne was at the pandemic’s peak, which gave a beautiful panoramic view of the city.  Despite the country’s restrictions, the drama triumphed in its storytelling and showed light on each couple’s romantic journey.  Witnessing such a tender and sometimes complicated narrative brought hope for the search for the viewers’ own unique love story.

What will Love Me season 2 be about?

Michael Brooks, the Warner Bros. Production Australia director, spoke about season two’s potential and finding success on Binge.

"“Love Me is a reflection of the complex family dynamics many Australians experience in real life, which is why audiences have embraced this beautifully crafted series. All credit goes to our brilliant cast and our incredibly talented writers and crew. We are thrilled BINGE has commissioned Season 2 of Love Me, life for the Mathiesons family is about to get even more complicated.”"

Love Me is streaming its first season on the Hulu platform for the US audience.  For a slightly-spoiler recap of season one, check out the complete review.
