Percival Pickens wants to destroy Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe. But, he will not succeed if Tabitha Tate has anything to say about it. However, Tabitha’s plans to turn the diner into a historical landmark are disrupted when she is shot.

Rather than waking up in the hospital bed, Tabitha was transported to Christmas Eve, 1944. Following Riverdale’s superpowers storyline, Tabitha Tate is next in line with a new ability. Brought on by the catalyst of a gunshot, Tabitha is not experiencing a dream that will allow her to save the day later. Instead, Tabitha has time-traveled to the past.

To get home, Tabitha must discover a talisman to help her return to her own time. But, 1944 is not Tabitha’s only stop in the past. She also visits the years 1968 and 1999. Each time, Tabitha has a mission to accomplish. But, one thing remains the same no matter what year Tabitha Tate ends up. Pop’s diner is in jeopardy, and it is due to a version of Percival Pickens.

Tabitha must face off against a Percival Pickens counterpart in each period as he tries to ignite violence or stir trouble for Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, the town’s residents, or Tabitha herself. In every iteration, Percival is a clear villain, and Tabitha eventually defeats him.

However, this does bring up questions about who or what Percival is. There are counterparts to Percvial in every year Tabitha visited, but during her fight with him, Percival seemed, if anything at all, not human. So, is Percvial a demon? Immortal? A resurrection? He already has mind-controlling powers, and if the terrifying face he showed in the dark was his natural face, everyone might be in more danger than they ever knew.

Luckily, Tabitha does find a way to return to her time, moments before she was shot. Realizing that Pop’s diner was her talisman, Tabitha figured out a way to better grasp her new abilities.

Giving Tabitha superpowers in “Angels in America” makes her a more significant part of the overall main story. However, she also has to deliver one of the most complicated pieces of news. When Tabitha had time-traveled to the future, Riverdale was a wasteland. Although Pop’s diner was still standing, although barely, it seemed as if nothing else remained. Whatever is coming is dangerous, and in addition to potentially destroying Riverdale, it may also be tied to an impending apocalypse.

Luckily, Tabitha will not have to deal with such heavy and disturbing news alone. In the episode’s final moments, Tabitha has been joined by Jughead, Archie, Betty, and Cheryl, Riverdale’s superheroes, to discuss the dangers of what may lie ahead.
