While the old saying about the world is our oyster might be over-simplified, many people are watching the Bravo Below Deck series for that glimpse into the elite travel world. Although few people might be able to cruise on a superyacht, the destinations are worth all the drama served by the atmosphere. During a recent chat with Captain Jason Chambers of Below Deck Down Under, he believes that the latest version of the popular show is more than just a slice of crew life. Hopefully, the visuals entice viewers to book a trip to Australia.

When Below Deck Down Under premiered on Peacock, the newest captain to join the Bravo club is not like the other people behind the helm. With nicknames like Capt. Cutie, it was clear that Jason was going to be different.

Although he might be the one ship captain that everyone enjoys seeing with his shirt off, Jason is an industry veteran. As seen on social media, he has navigated some tough waters over his yachting career. Even in the first couple of episodes, the captain showcased both his skill and his calm nerves to get the ship out of danger.

Captain Jason Chambers graciously spoke to Culturess about Below Deck Down Under, the benefits of travel, and what is ahead for this man of the world. When specifically asked about what viewers can expect from this new series, Jason thinks that there is a travel showcase aspect to the series. From the crystal clear waters to the majestic views, it is almost a love letter to Australia.

For this series, Captain Jason is excited that the episodes take a step away from the crew drama and focus on the locale. From the underwater views to the marine life, those moments are what captivate him. While there will always be crew drama, and he admitted that it is part of the yachting life, he hopes that the new character of the locale will be embraced by the audience.

Looking back at his long career in the industry, he appreciates the travel opportunities it affords him. Jason admitted that people do not join a crew without wanting to see the world. From the hard work to the potential drama, the stunning views of the world help to find calm in the middle of the personality storm.

Even though there will always be highs and lows during any charter, Jason believes that this crew was stellar. More importantly, he has always believed in setting an example in his position. Whether it is pitching for smaller tasks to having a firm hand with guidance, he maintains a careful balance in his leadership role.

Looking back, Jason felt it was the perfect time in his career to join the Peacock series. While he has experienced highs and lows along the way, the reality is that his small glimpse into a condensed charter season creates an engaging show. Still, many things aren’t known about mega yachts.

Jason told a story where he was once stuck in the South Pacific and the yacht turned into a vessel to help deliver charity items to locals in Papua New Quinea. It is those stories, not the nights of revelry, that make a lasting impression. Sometimes there is more giving back than overindulgence going on behind the scenes.

What is Captain Jason Chambers doing now? He operates a villa in the Philippines. And by the Instagram photos, the views are stunning. He mentioned that excellent hospitality was a trait he learned on yachts and it is something that he strives for in his own business.

Could there be a Below Deck Down Under Season 2? Based on the mesmerizing visuals of season 1, many people are hoping for an affirmative answer. Or, consider booking a trip to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. While the view from a superyacht might be impressive, the real world and nature offer the most spectacular views.
