Gitanjali Rao

Have you ever heard of Gitanjali Rao? Her name may not be familiar, but as someone who was named the first-ever Kid of the Year by TIME magazine, we can’t help but think that she is definitely a person to have on your radar when it comes to history makers.

At just 15 years old, Rao was named the TIME Kid of the Year and a lot of that had to do with her scientific innovations. In particular, the development of an app called Kindly.

But what is Kindly and why should we all care about it?

According to People Magazine, her app detects cyberbullying using artificial intelligence and helps kids correct their phrasing and tone before they send a message that may be hurtful to others.

That’s right! A 15-year-old created an app to help detect bullying online and find ways to correct the behaviors before they could become harmful. But that’s not all she has done. In fact, the app isn’t the only reason why she was named Kid of the Year. It was also her work in science that helps combat opioid addiction and even deal with the fallout from people drinking water that has been contaminated.

Basically, Gitanjali Rao is using her scientific knowledge to help save the world and it’s hard to deny that she deserves to be considered a woman making history. Rao is one to watch out for because if she is doing this as a teenager, what will she do next?
