Zendaya

In 2019, I wrote a piece about 20 Women under 30 making a difference in the world. At the time, one of the women I chose to shine a spotlight on was Zendaya. And once again, when talking about women making history, it just seems fitting to once again shine that spotlight on the actress.

While we might associate the actress with her work on Euphoria and in the MCU as the MJ to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, there is so much more to the star. And a lot of that has to do with her advocacy and philanthropic work.

On top of her previous feminist work, she has long been a voice against cultural appropriation and empowering women. From attending the Women’s March in Washington to using her social platforms to address issues such as racial inequality and the Black Lives Matter movement, Zendaya has repeatedly “put her money where her mouth is” and done what she can to be a voice for change.

And perhaps my favorite quote from Zendaya would have to be when she shared her thoughts on what it means to be a feminist. At the time she said, “a feminist is a person who believes in the power of women just as much as they believe in the power of anyone else.”
