If you’re like me, you love hearing someone’s story. I’ve always loved reading an autobiography or a memoir from a historical or public figure. Most recently, I’ve read Jessica Simpson’s 2020 Open Book, to which I was pleasantly surprised to learn more about. After doing my research, I found some of our favorite public figures are also releasing memoirs this year! Here are just a few.

Celebrity memoirs to look forward to in 2022

1. Finding Me: A Memoir

Viola Davis is a beloved actress who will be releasing her first memoir, Finding Me: A Memoir, on April 26, 2022.  The simple fact that she is an Academy Award winner, a Primetime Emmy Award winner, and a two-time Tony Award winner should be enough for anyone to want to pick up her memoir. She is also the first African-American actress to achieve this “Triple Crown of Acting”.

2. We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story

There may be a relevantly small population that is not a Marvel fan. And if so, that population that isn’t watching the films because everyone else does. Because so, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is probably a film everyone is familiar with. And the star of the superhero box office hit, Simu Liu, is the author of We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story. The memoir is set to be released on May 17, 2022. This is the one I’m most looking forward to!  Fans also know him for his role in Kim’s Convenience. But, I’m excited to read more about how he found his cultural identity and battling cultural stereotypes in the spotlight.

3. Out of the Corner

Jennifer Grey is best known for her role as “Baby” in the film Dirty Dancing, but she is proving that there is more to her in her memoir, Out of the Corner, set to be released this May 3, 2022. Grey has spoken in interviews about her memoir saying that it will not be a “tell-all”, but a book that will “describe chapters of her life”.
