The Wilds sets season 2 return date

Over a year since season 1 was released in December of 2020, Amazon has announced a return date for their hit survival drama The Wilds: Season 2 of the series will drop May 6, 2022, on Amazon’s Prime Video.

It’s currently unconfirmed, but speculation indicates that Prime will opt for a weekly release schedule for the series, as it’s done with later seasons of hits The Boys and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The weekly format will likely make for a fun viewing experience, as the twists and turns unfold over weeks instead of a single binge.

In a short teaser trailer, we are granted our first look at the Unsinkable Eight much further into their island stay. We also got our first look at the group of boys that were experimented on first, referred to in the season 1 finale as “The Twilight of Adam.”

Also teased in the trailer was fan-favorite relationship Shoni, the pairing of Shelby and Toni, observed by Toni’s bestie Martha. Fans can surely expect lots of island romance between the two, especially after the season 1 finale left them in a place of understanding and genuine connection.

First images reveal the girls looking extra-roughed up by the island, and staring up into the sky. The streamer also dropped 16 photos of the cast of boys we’ll see take on the island, including first looks at their lives before the experiment.

Notably absent from the images and the teaser is Nora, Rachel’s sister who was revealed to be a double agent in season 1. It’s been heavily speculated that Nora won’t be a prominent figure in the second season, considering the implication that she helps save Rachel from a shark attack in the final moments of season 1.

The official season logline, released via TVLine, reads:

"New episodes of The Wilds “will continue to follow the harrowing ordeal of a group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, and they didn’t end up there by accident — they’ve secretly been recruited into an elaborate social experiment. The new season ratchets up the drama by revealing that the girls aren’t the only ones being studied… there’s a new set of subjects, an island of teenage boys, who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment’s puppet master."

All original series regulars are set to return, in addition to eight new cast members portraying those in the Twilight of Adam group.

The Wilds will premiere on May 6, 2022, on Prime Video. All episodes of season 1 are available to stream now.
