The song is an electropop dance track that propelled Kesha to stardom. Although released in August 2009, it topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts in early 2010 for nine consecutive weeks. It also ended the year as the longest-running Billboard Hot 100 track of the year.
Similarly, Benny used the retro influence to help produce two of the biggest songs of Katy Perry’s career. In the same year he worked with Kesha, he helped produce Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” and “California Gurls”. Although the songs have more of a pop-rock feel to them, they were just as successful. The songs helped make up Katy Perry’s five number-one singles from her second album, Teenage Dream. Teenage Dream the album is only the second album in history to achieve this milestone.
His producer credits also include male artists. One of those is one of the biggest names in pop music. While Benny Blanco and Justin Bieber continue to collaborate to this day, their first and one of their most acclaimed collaborations was for Justin’s single “Love Yourself”. The song earned him a Song of the Year nomination at the 2017 Grammys. While it did not take home the Grammy that year, the pop single became the ninth number-one single for Justin Bieber and only added more credibility to Benny Blanco’s talent and success for years to come.
