4400 has been building to an explosive finale since its series premiere, and “Present Is Prologue” did just that. The season 1 finale presented a dangerous war between the 4400 and those who hate them. It is a desperate battle, but that is not the only event the 4400 have to worry about.

The truth about Manny has finally been revealed. Flashbacks to the future indicate that not only had Manny known more than anyone else, but he had also been actively involved in the experiments, eventually leading to the group of returnees that appeared at the beginning of the series premiere.

Through Manny, the terrifying state of the future has also been announced. Barely any parts left of the world are habitable, and it is up to a select few to determine how to improve the world. But, it is not enough for Manny as he claims that those he is working with are only doing the minimum possible, as they wish to protect their stances rather than improve the world as a whole.

In the present, a war rages on, eventually leading to fatal wounds for Logan and Manny. A green light collects them in their last moments, but Hayden refuses to let Logan go alone and joins him wherever they may be taken next. As for Manny, it is a much bigger plot twist.

Manny returns to his apartment, but with the same mentality, he had before being taken by the green light in 2020. What does this mean? Had the future wiped Manny’s memories and sent him back?

However, if Manny’s memory has been wiped, what does that mean for him or Claudette and Jharrel? Claudette had just admitted to feeling that Manny may have been right about needing to take drastic measures for change to stick.

LaDonna and Mildred also stepped up in “Present Is Prologue.” LaDonna used her illusion abilities to create an enormous enough distraction to keep the 4400 haters busy while Mildred rescued those who had been taken.

As for Andre, who had already been safely away from the hotel at the start of the battle, answers may be in his future. Andre is offered the chance to work with scientists from the future, which would answer several questions the 4400 has about why they have been removed from their time.

If 4400 is renewed for a second season, there are certainly plenty of storylines that need to be addressed and answered. “Present Is Prologue” sets up several mysteries and relationships that could be expanded if the show is given more time to grow and develop.
