Fans have been waiting for months, if not years, for any news on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV show, and the time has finally come. While we still don’t have a full trailer, we do have a title and a new short teaser.

I have been a Lord of the Rings fan since the first Peter Jackson movie came out in 2001. After I saw that movie, I read all the books while I waited for the second film to come out. At a certain point, I knew all the actors and the producers’ names. I may have been a bit obsessed.

So when I heard about this new Amazon series, I was cautiously optimistic and now that it’s getting closer, my excitement level is quickly going up.

The show’s official title is The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power and it’s set to come out on Friday, Sept 2, 2022. So we still have some time to wait.

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series has a new teaser

As the creators of the show have said before, the show will be set during a time before The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit. We’ll be seeing events that happened centuries before the events of the movies and the books.

This means new characters, new stories, and possibly a different landscape that we haven’t seen before. They’re still characters and stories Tolkien created, but not ones that have been adapted as many times as the Frodo and Bilbo stories.

It will be difficult to beat the Peter Jackson trilogy. Based on the new teaser, the creators are certainly willing to try.

While we don’t get too much information from the teaser, it does include some very cool graphics showing the making of the ring.

The trailer also includes a voiceover that tells the story of the original rings. Three rings for the elven kings (“under the sky”), 9 rings for men (“doomed to die”, 7 rings for the dwarf lords (“in their halls of stone”), and one ring for the dark lord (“on his dark throne In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie”). I got chills!

This teaser makes me very excited for the show and I know I’m not the only Tolkien fan who hopes September gets here sooner rather than later.
