Sadly, Riverdale fans will have to wait a little longer for season 6 to come back, as the show’s return has been pushed back two weeks. Unfortunately, this means waiting even longer for the answers regarding the cliffhangers of the season 5 finale, “RIVERDALE: RIP(?).”

As it stands last Riverdale aired, the Rivervale 5-Episode Event was coming to a close with the one-hundredth episode, “The Jughead Paradox.”

“The Jughead Paradox” dived deep into the craziness Riverdale is known so well for. Between the colliding universes of Riverdale and Rivervale, bringing back old characters, including the surprise appearance of Ross Butler as the original Reggie, and an explosive conclusion that brought the series right back to Riverdale, there was certainly a lot happening.

However, while Rivervale may have been an exciting break away from the events in Riverdale, there are still several loose ends season 6 needs to handle regarding the conclusion of season 5.

Betty still has to deal with the trauma, and possible reunion, with the Trash Bag Killer. The storyline got a brief reference during the Rivervale event, but it still has to be addressed in its entirety in Riverdale.

Although the 5-Episode Event did confirm that Archie, Betty, and Jughead survived the bomb placed under Archie’s bed, there are still plenty of storylines that season 6 needs to discuss in further depth.

Riverdale teased a few romances toward the end of its fifth season between Archie and Betty, Jughead and Tabitha, Veronica and Reggie, and Toni and Fangs. Unfortunately, there was not enough time to develop them as the season concluded, so moving further into season 6, they will likely get more screen time to develop.

Riverdale storylines are always a surprise, and it is never quite clear where the season will go. However, with Hiram Lodge gone from Riverdale, season 6 can introduce new problems and conflicts while developing deeper connections and friendships between the main characters.

Riverdale will return to The CW on Sunday, March 20.
