Grey’s Anatomy officially renewed for season 19

Grey’s Anatomy is continuing its record-breaking reign on ABC with an official renewal for season 19. The medical drama is one of ABC’s most successful shows, and it is not a surprise the network wishes to continue its sensation.

After the polarizing season 17 focused primarily on the Covid-19 pandemic, season 18 has pushed beyond that, existing in a world where the pandemic has ended.

However, the season began with Meredith Grey questioning what was next for her after surviving Covid and how she could continue to push the boundaries and be successful. This question has led her to work in Minnesota toward a cure for Parkinson’s.

Even though Ellen Pompeo has stated her wish for the medical drama to end soon, this show deserves the chance to say a proper goodbye. A series on for so long needs to end satisfyingly, rather than quickly thrown together due to an unforeseen cancellation.

The doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital deserve a natural conclusion, one thought out with time and build-up leading up to it. Season 19 can help give the series that, even if the show continues afterward.

Season 18’s midseason finale, “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” concluded with Owen Hunt’s life at risk and the uncertainty of what will happen with Levi Schmitt after he disregarded the rules of the Webber Method during surgery.

Such events show that Grey’s Anatomy still knows how to create a suspenseful cliffhanger, along with the questions of whatever repercussions may come next.

Grey’s Anatomy’s eighteenth season has teased new romances that have the potential to play a role in season 19. Whether it be the brewing romance between Amelia and Kai or the hint of something more occurring between Jo and Link, relationships on Grey’s Anatomy are filled with ups, downs, and plenty of drama.

Although Grey’s Anatomy may not last forever, the series persists in making strides in storytelling as it continues to air.
