Bob Saget, the comedian, and star of the 1980s hit sitcom, Full House, has passed away.  The 65-year-old was staying at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando for a comedy tour that was scheduled to run through May.  The night prior, Saget had performed in Jacksonville, Fl., and thanked the audience in an Instagram post early Sunday morning.

The news of his shocking passing was first obtained by TMZ.  According to the outlet, the actor was found unresponsive in his hotel room around 4 PM ET  and the cause of his death has not been disclosed.  However, there was no evidence of drugs or foul play, Variety has reported.

Aside from being a stand-up comic with often ‘mature’ material, Bob Saget rose to stardom with the role of Danny Tanner – the over-affectionate and widowed father of three young girls in the ABC family comedy, Full House.  To help raise his daughters, his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis and best friend Joey Gladstone move in with them.  The show ran from 1987 to 1995 and launched the careers of John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

The Full House cast minus the Olsens reunited for Netflix’s Fuller House, the continuation of Full House.  Bob reprised his character of Danny Tanner, who now helps his adult daughter, DJ raise her kids in her childhood home.  Fuller House ran for five seasons, concluding in May 2020.

During the filming of Full House, Saget was the host of America’s Home Videos and the stint lasted from 1989 -1997.  His other credits included being the narrator of CBS’s comedy, How I Met Your Mother, the WB comedy, Raising Dad (2001-2002), a five-year tenure on Entourage, the starring lead in Surviving Surburbia, among others.

Most recently, Bob was the Squiggly Monster on the Fox singing competition, The Masked Singer: The Masked Singer Christmas Sing-Along.  Before his passing, he hosted his podcast titled, Bob Saget’s Here For You.

Saget’s long-time friend and Full House co-star John Stamos expressed his feelings upon hearing of his friend’s fate.

Offscreen and offstage, Bob was an advocate and supporter of the Scleroderma Research Foundation.  His sister, Gay passed away from the disease in 1993.

He is survived by his three daughters, Aubrey, Jennifer, and Lara, along with his wife Kelly Rizzo, and first wife, Sherri Kramer.
