The new Hawkeye series on Disney Plus has introduced us to several characters that are new to the MCU. One of the most intriguing is Echo’s Maya’s right-hand man Kazi. We did a little deep dive into the career of the actor who portrays him, Fra Fee.

Chances are that you might have seen Fra Fee before, even if you didn’t realize it. The actor played one of the “barricade boys,” Coufeyrac, in the hit 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables and one of the prince’s friends in the new Cinderella film earlier this year.

Fee is originally from Northern Ireland but studied music at the University of Manchester and the Royal Academy of Music. The 34-year-old actor has had an impressive career in British theatre over the past two decades before making the jump to Broadway and the screen.

Fee has appeared in shows in Dublin, Belfast, off-West End, and the West End. Notably, he played “barricade boy” Jean Prouvaire in the London production of Les Mis, while understudying Marius and Enjolras from 2011 to 2012. It was around the same time that he appeared in his first film role, as Coufeyrac, alongside stars including Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.

Other notable theatre roles include Amiens in

As You Like It

and Owen in

Translations

at the National Theatre in London.

As You Like It

was also filmed and broadcast to cinemas as part of National Theatre Live.

Fee originated the role of Michael Carney in the Olivier and Tony Award-winning play, The Ferryman in the West End and on Broadway. The show, written by Jez Butterworth, won the coveted Tony Award for Best Original Play. While in London, Fee snagged the 2018 WhatsOnStage Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Play for the role.

Fee lent his voice to the role of Will on the cast album for a new musical called The Clockmaker’s Daughter and appeared in a staged concert of the show at Cadogan Hall in 2019.

Lately, Fee has balanced theatre roles and parts in small films ranging from

Animals

to the upcoming

The Laureate

. But his big break onscreen is undoubtedly his role in the new MCU television series on Disney Plus,

Hawkeye.

Fee plays Kazimierz Kazimierczak, or Kazi, a member of the Tracksuit Mafia and Maya’s friend since childhood. In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, he revealed that he may have kept one of the tracksuits and that he’s hoping to appear as Kazi again on the Echo television show centered around Maya that is in development.

Fee noted that the pair luckily had plenty of time to rehearse together to ensure that he was comfortable with using ASL. He said, “Learning sign language was the greatest gift in order to communicate with Alaqua [Cox] and befriend her and get to know her.”

He also noted that he had hoped to be involved with Rogers: The Musical because of his background in musical theatre, but it didn’t work out with the character. He joked, “Maybe I’ll do the actual musical when it reaches Broadway.”

Fee has an illustrious background in theatre, but a supporting role on a high-profile Marvel TV show introduced him to many more people. We can’t wait to see what Fra Fee does next.

Next. Hawkeye is the perfect eulogy for Natasha Romanoff. dark
