Nancy Drew proved that Bess might be just as good as Nancy with the clues
Nancy Drew had to deal with “The Voices in the Frost” as part of the Season 3 mid-season finale, and that meant multiple clues and mysteries, as well as a directorial debut that brought the emotions.
In episode 9, we watched as Nancy and Park found themselves on a weird quest of sorts in the tunnels under the Historical Society, while Ace was basically out of commission on the floor above them. But while Nancy, Ace, and Park did their part to deal with the over-arching storyline of the Frozen Hearts Killer, it was Bess, Ned, and George who were really in the thick of things.
With their murder investigation taking place at The Claw, we got to see Bess shine in a very surprising (or maybe not) way. While she was taking out her mistrust of the person they were trying to help, it led her to find something we were hoping someone would – the letter Temperance wrote to her daughter revealing that she is using and lying to Nancy Drew.
Bess proves that she has good mystery solving instincts on Nancy Drew
While so much happened in this episode, which was directed by Scott Wolf, as fans of Bess, this episode felt like an honest appreciation of just how smart she is. Even with her penchant for petty thievery, Bess has long been an underappreciated member of the Drew Crew.
Sometimes, it seems like everyone forgets that Bess can be a chameleon when she needs to be and she has good instincts. And those instincts were confirmed when she learned more about Temperance and how she is using Nancy Drew.
Whether Bess can get what she needs to stop Temperance before anyone gets hurt, we don’t know. But at this point, at least we finally got a chance to see her solving her mystery (even if no one else knows but the viewers).
Now we need to know what’s going on with Ace and what he wanted to tell Nancy!
What did you think of Scott Wolf’s directorial debut on Nancy Drew? Was there anything from the mid-season finale that you were unhappy with? We want to know.
