School will be back in session at HBOMax for Mindy Kaling as The Sex Lives of College Girls scores a second season renewal.

The series, which premiered on November 18 with two episodes out the gate, follows a group of four college freshman roommates as they navigate independence, identity, and, of course, sex. This show is for those who wish Euphoria was set in college or those who love the comedy of films like Booksmart. It’s a smart, funny take on the experiences of young women in college while remaining relatable and enjoyable for an older audience as well.

Sex Lives stars Renee Rap, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Amrit Kaur, and Pauline Chalamet as Leighton, Whitney, Bela, and Kimberly, who are all set to return for a second season. Mindy Kaling will also return as the showrunner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Sex Lives of College Girls has been praised by fans and critics alike, with it being hailed as one of the first truly successful young adults shows that captures the essence of college, finally moving away from the tired halls of high school. Despite its few faults, the show embraces the messy realities of its main characters in charming and funny ways, being supported incredibly well by its fresh-faced main cast.

Aside from just critical success, HBOMax stated that Sex Lives was their biggest original comedy launch this year, ranking among its top titles. The streamer also revealed that viewership has climbed with each new episode released from its 10-episode season, with viewership for episodes 6, 7, and 8 up 40% from the premiere.

If this is a series you were waiting to watch, now’s the best time to start. With a guaranteed second season on the way, there’s no reason not to give this hilarious and heartfelt comedy a try.

This renewal comes just ahead of the release of episodes 9 and 10 of the first season, which are set to release on December 9.
