Normani is finally releasing her long-awaited album
In July 2021, Normani released the lead single from her upcoming debut album with no news of its release date. The single, “Wild Side”, featured Cardi B, and reached the top 20 charts in the US. Since the breakup of Fifth Harmony in March 2018 however, fans of the girl group and the singer have not had a full-length album from the star. In an interview with ET, however, the singer hinted that her full-length debut album will be coming next summer.
Normani is finally releasing her long-awaited album.
After Fifth Harmony broke up in 2018, Fifth Harmony became a breakout star. Normani competed on season 24 of “Dancing with the Stars” from March through May 2017. She became a household name for her dancing ability and ended up in third place with her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy. She then had a cameo in Khalid’s music video for “Young Dumb & Broke” which led to the duet “Love Lies”. It is from this recognition that Normani got her solo recording contract. Additionally, she also signed a modeling contract with Wilhelmina.
While Normani had a few singles afterward, including being recognized as the first brand ambassador of Savage X Fenty, her album never came between the years that followed. In an interview with the Zach Zang Show back in 2019, she spoke about her intentions for the album, explaining that her single of the time “Motivation” was only one layer of what she was capable of. She told the radio show: “Being in an entity and knowing who you are within that, I couldn’t tap into who Normani was 110%.” She went on to add: “[Motivation] is one layer. I want to make sure this album is very dynamic. There are so many dimensions to me, not only as an artist but as a person – there are things that I want to talk about and emotions that I want to convey. It is one portion of it for sure but there’s a whole more to be able to discover.”
We can’t wait for an official Summer release date!
