Lindsey Morgan will exit Walker in season 2
Texas ranger Micki Ramirez will be hanging up her saddle during the second season of the CW crime drama, Walker. Lindsey Morgan, who starred alongside Supernatural alum, Jared Padalecki (Cordell Walker) since season one, will be departing the show.
Morgan posted a lengthy statement on her Instagram elaborating her reasons for her sudden departure, and it is packed with emotion.
"It is with a heavy heart that I have come to the difficult decision to step away from my role as “Micki Ramirez” for personal reasons.I am extremely grateful to the team at The CW network and CBS Studios, Anna Fricke, the most graceful and compassionate showrunner, Jared Padalecki, a wunder-boss and acting partner-in-crime for fully supporting my decision, while doing everything in their power to make this situation as comfortable as possible. This decision was entirely my choice and I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all those involved for their full support and compassion. I have only been treated with the upmost respect, kindness and appreciation from this cast, crew, production, writing team, network and studio. WALKER was one of the safest, professional and joyful sets that I’ve ever experienced and it was truly a privilege to create with Such gems of human beings."
While it is unclear how Micki will be written off (or her future with Trey), or how many episodes she’ll have, The CW and CBS (who produces the show) gave a conjoined statement that there is a possibility for her return in Walker.
"“We respect and support Lindsey Morgan’s decision to step away from her role as a series regular on Walker and wish her only the best,” the network and studio said. “She is a tremendously talented actress who will certainly be missed, and we will, of course, leave the door open for ‘Micki’ to return.”"
Before landing the role of the female law partner opposite Padalecki, Morgan portrayed the sassy and intelligent Raven Reyes on The CW sci-fi show, The 100 for seven seasons with six of them being a series regular.
With her departure from Walker, it will be a significant loss for the crime drama as Micki was a strong asset and became one of the first female Texas rangers in history.
In the second season premiere that aired earlier this week, Micki goes undercover for a dangerous case, and her involvement alarms Walker and the law department. However, it wasn’t the first time concern was displayed for Micki. Throughout the first season, she escaped a deadly tornado outbreak and encountered notorious criminals.
The Walker, Texas Ranger reboot became an instant success for the CW, making the series premiere its highest-rated event in five years. Ahead of the season two production, Odette Annable, who currently portrays as the saloon keeper, Geri Broussard, and love interest for Walker, was promoted to series regular.
