The American Music Awards are one of the most fun nights in music. It is essentially the People’s Choice Awards, but for music. This year, newcomer Olivia Rodrigo leads the in nominations, she is up for seven awards. Rodrigo is followed by The Weekend with six nominations, and Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, and GIVĒON round out the top-three with five nominations apiece.

Several artists saw their first-ever AMA awards nomination this year, including Rodrigo, GIVĒON, and indie alternative rock group AJR. It will be fun seeing these diverse and devoted fan bases battle it out on TikTok voting for each respective artist.

International Korean supergroup BTS is up for three awards, and more than likely they will sweep their categories due to TikTok voting. Although the artist of the year may be a toss-up because Rodrigo and Taylor Swift also have strong fan bases. To see the full list of nominees, click here.

It is intriguing to see the embrace of the social media platform TikTok by AMA’s. The award show has always been a fan vote, to now do it exclusively through a social media platform shows how much times have changed and the process has evolved.

You can now cast your vote for the awards via TikTok, voting is open to anyone with an active TikTok account and can be done by searching #AMAs or by visiting the voting hub here.
