Danica McKellar signs exclusive holiday movie deal with GAC Media
Danica McKellar is joining the ranks of stars partnering with GAC Media. McKellar, a longtime Hallmark Channel standout, will star in and executive produce holiday movies and romantic comedies for newly rebranded GAC Living and GAC Family under a new deal that extends through 2023.
Deadline reports that McKellar’s first project, The Winter Palace, will debut in January 2022 on GAC Family.
Bill Abbott, President and CEO of GAC Media, formerly served in a similar role for Hallmark Channel. He’s worked with McKellar in the past and he’s looking forward to working with her again. “Her combination of creativity and passion is second to none, and I am thrilled to have her join GAC’s close-knit family.”
Danica McKellar will star in movies exclusively for GAC Media through 2023
McKellar has appeared in at least one holiday movie for Hallmark Channel every year dating back to 2015. She recently starred in You, Me and the Christmas Trees, which kicked off the network’s Countdown to Christmas 2021 event. This new deal will see her starring in and executive producing movies exclusively for GAC Media through 2023.
GAC Media has been making a big splash lately, with many stars from the holiday movie circuit signing up to appear in GAC Family’s Great American Christmas movie lineup. There’s no question that the holiday movie business is lucrative, with Lifetime, Amazon Prime and Netflix following the Hallmark Channel model of providing lighthearted holiday content that appeals to everyone in the family.
Though there is plenty of room for more holiday movies, it’s weird to think of Countdown to Christmas without McKellar. She has been such a staple on Hallmark Channel for so long that her absence will be felt.
McKellar got her start as Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years and she has been part of an entire generation’s lives. The UCLA grad is also a bestselling author. She’s written several books about making math fun for kids, and she’s very passionate about getting girls interested in math at an early age.
