Legacies: Caroline Forbes needs to return to Mystic Falls

While Legacies has shown The Vampire Diaries Universe alumni in the past, including Jeremy Gilbert, Freya Mikaelson, and fan-favorite villain Kai Parker, one of the most integral players has yet to make an in-person appearance. Although Caroline Forbes returned in a voice-over during “Salvatore: The Musical!” she is still mostly absent. However, given the dangerous activities that her daughters have been up to, it may be time for her to come back to Mystic Falls.

Although Josie and Lizzie have visited their mother off-screen, the twins have still spent a substantial amount of time without her as she is searching for a way to prevent the Merge. For as dedicated as Caroline may be to ensuring that both her daughters survive their twenty-second birthday, Legacies could still benefit from her return.

It has been considered unrealistic and out of character for someone as in control of things as Caroline to be missing when her daughters have been going through devastating stuff at home, including Josie’s time possessed by dark magic and her failed attempt at the Merge.

Although Caroline Forbes has been referenced on Legacies several times, she may be nothing more than a name for viewers who never watched The Vampire Diaries or The Originals. Caroline is mentioned often enough for viewers to be aware that she is out in the world and what she is attempting to achieve, but to some degree, her absence is maddening.

Josie’s brief time as the show’s antagonist was a powerful incentive for Caroline to return to Mystic Falls, but she never did. So instead, it was up to Lizzie and Hope to save Josie.

Even though “Salvatore: The Musical!” hints at who Caroline had been as a teenager during Lizzie’s portrayal in the school play, that was not enough to understand all of her character development as a person and vampire.

Caroline’s bubbly personality kept The Vampire Diaries entertaining, and her determination and dedication to those she loved were always a vital part of who she was. Although Caroline was mainly shown on The Vampire Diaries as an essential part of the Mystic Falls gang, she also played a significant role in Klaus’s life during the fifth season of The Originals.

Even though the living Mikaelson siblings have barely been mentioned, her return could also bring out the history she shared with Klaus and Rebekah. Overall, it is always exciting when a previous character makes their way back to the show’s universe, and Caroline Forbes is one of the most anticipated returns Legacies could portray.
