One Summer is an all-new original movie coming to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. The movie is based on the bestselling book by James Baldacci and follows the story of a man trying to keep his family together after being given a second chance at life and the tragic loss of his wife.

One Summer synopsis

Jack packs up his family and heads to the beachside town where his wife grew up hoping to help his kids get through the tragic loss of their mother. Jack had been sick and wasn’t expected to make it, but in a miraculous twist he survived the illness. Sadly, though, his wife Lizzie passes away and sends 15-year-old Mikki and 10-year-old Tyler into a tailspin.

Jack starts work on the old lighthouse and he meets Jenna, who is recently divorced and a single mother. Mikki gets a job at Jenna’s cafe, where she spends time with Jenna’s son Liam.

As Jack works on the lighthouse, he starts seeing visions of Lizzie and she helps guide him on a new journey so that he can heal and help their family move forward.

One Summer cast

Sam Page brings Jack to life in One Summer. Page is best known for roles in Mad Men, Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl, and he’s also an All My Children alum. Page is very well known for his work on Hallmark Channel movies like The Story of Us, Royal New Year’s Eve and The Perfect Christmas Present.

Sarah Drew (Jenna) is known around Hallmark after appearing in Christmas in Vienna, but she’s perhaps best known for her work on Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. April Kepner. She’s also working on Freeform’s Cruel Summer.

Amanda Schull (Lizzie) starred in the final seasons of Suits on USA. She’s had recurring roles on One Tree Hill, Pretty Little Liars and the MacGyver reboot. She also appeared in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Project Christmas Wish.

The movie also stars Madeline Grace Popovich (Mikki), Gavin Borders (Tyler) and Bryant Prince (Liam).

One Summer is directed by R.C. Newey from a script written by Maria Nation and Michael Reisz, based on the book by David Baldacci.
