Revisiting A Star is Born on its three year anniversary
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper paired up three years ago to give us the movie A Star Is Born. Not only did the film steal the heart of many, but it was a critically acclaimed film that had soundtrack just alike that gave the film success that continues up to this day. The track Shallow was released as lead single for the soundtrack on September 27, 2018 and become one of the biggest hits of the of that decade. A Star is Born is a complicated love story that follows Bradley Cooper playing a hard-drinking musician (Jackson “Jack” Maine) who discovers the character of Lady Gaga (Ally) who portrays an up and coming musician. While the musical debuted in 2018, it was the fourth version of the film to have been adapted after the original 1937 film. The film was also Bradley’s directorial debut. In that year, the film scored a 90% approval rating from multiple critical, was on the top of many year end charts, and even scored as the top remake for The Guardian.
What made the soundtrack of A Star is Born special?
What made the musical long-lasting was the music. A Star is Born had a monumental soundtrack. It was nominated for multiple awards and the lead single, Shallow, was performed at the 2019 Oscars. It is noted to be one of the longest running singles in radio history, and in comparison to the other singles (Always Remember Us This Way and I’ll Never Love Again) stayed within the top ten on multiple charts throughout multiple countries for several months.
