Summer Nights 2021 are slowly coming to a close but not before a charming new summer romance arrives on Hallmark Channel. Sweet Pecan Summer is the perfect segue from summer to fall and it features a touching story with a wonderful cast.

The movie is based on a story from Wes Brown, who stars in the movie as J.P. The movie features a predominantly Asian-American cast, marking a first for the network and signalling the company’s commitment to telling stories with diverse casts.

Sweet Pecan Summer synopsis

Amanda has been getting more and more frustrated in her role as a product developer at a cosmetics company, so when her aunt Carol calls she’s excited to hear from her. But when Carol reveals that she’s moving to be with a man she met and needs to sell her pecan farm, it changes everything.

The pecan farm is where Amanda has her happiest memories with her family. Selling the farm is like selling her childhood, but she’s willing to do it if that’s what Carol wants. What Amanda doesn’t realize is that her old boyfriend J.P. has been hired by Aunt Carol to be the broker. Carol knows that her niece and J.P. have a complicated history but she’s hoping some sparks fly when they’re forced to work together to sell the farm.

Sweet Pecan Summer cast

Christine Ko is known for her work on Dave, and she was the lead in Alan Yang’s Tigertail on Netflix. The Georgia State alum has also appeared on Hawaii Five-0, Upload and Ballers.

Wes Brown is a familiar face around the Hallmark Channel, appearing in fan favorites like Christmas at Graceland, Love Under the Stars and June in January. He’s also appeared in True Blood, Glory Road and We Are Marshall. Sweet Pecan Summer is based on a story he wrote.

Lauren Tom has been seen in The Joy Luck Club, Supernatural and Friends, but you might know her from her extensive catalog of voice work. She has been part of hit animated series and features like Max Steel, Batman and Superman, and she’s also a prolific Broadway actor who has starred in her own one-woman show, 25 Psychics.

Swett Pecan Farm is directed by Dustin Rikert, with Wes Brown and David Wulf serving as executive producers. The script was written by Zach Lewis and Stephanie Jackson.
