August sees popular romance authors like Julie Murphy, Farrah Rochon, and Helen Hoang returning to the scene. It also sees a couple of newcomers joining in on the fun.

11 August romance releases that are worth your time

There’s no better way to top off your summer than by relaxing with one of these new releases. Here are 11 romance novels to watch out for this August.

If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy

From the author of Dumplin comes If the Shoe FitsCinderella retelling perfect for anyone looking for a fairytale ending. The first book in the Meant to Be series, a collection of romance novels putting a contemporary spin on Disney princesses, Murphy’s latest follows Cindy after she graduates with a degree in shoe design.

That’s a unique diploma to have, and it lands her on her stepmother’s reality television series Before Midnight. If all these Cinderella references already have you hooked, read on, because they aren’t the only reason to grab a copy of Murphy’s latest.

Not only does Cindy’s experience on her stepmother’s show lead her to the man of her dreams, but it starts a body positivity movement that rocks her world:

"“Turns out being the only plus size woman on a reality dating competition makes a splash, and soon Cindy becomes a body positivity icon for women everywhere. What she doesn’t expect? That she may just find inspiration — and love — in the process. Ultimately, Cindy learns that if the shoe doesn’t fit, maybe it’s time to design your own.”"

It sounds like If the Shoe Fits will offer all the romance and magic of the original Cinderella while working in a more modern feminist conversation. That’s not something we want to miss out on!

You can find If the Shoe Fits in print, ebook, and audiobook formats starting on Aug. 3.
