One of the queens of rock ‘n roll, Stevie Nicks, has made a tough decision. Announced on her social media earlier this week, she’s decided to cancel all of her 2021 tour dates.

“These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made,” the songstress started off. She confirmed that because of the Delta variant of COVID-19 that’s currently ripping through the country and the world, she needed to cancel her 5 scheduled performances.

The 73-year-old verified that she was vaccinated but wanted to keep her fans and herself safe during this difficult time. “Because singing and performing have been my whole life, my primary goal is to keep healthy so I can continue singing for the next decade or longer,” she added. Understandably so. We wouldn’t want our queen to get sick and unable to use her voice again.

Thankfully, she left her statement on a more positive note, letting us look forward to the near future with her. “I’m devastated and I know the fans are disappointed, but we will look towards a brighter 2022.” So maybe we will see her own the stage again next year!

Nicks, known for her solo work in addition to her decades-long career with the legendary band Fleetwood Mac, was set to perform at a few music festivals this year. She will be pulling out of the Bottlerock Festival in Napa Valley, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the now-canceled New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and more. If you’re really itching to see her perform, you can always purchase her 24 Karat Gold concert from Amazon!

I think this is a great move by her. With the latest COVID-19 variant affecting both vaccinated and unvaccinated people, it’s best not to be in large crowds until there’s more herd immunity. No matter how careful you are, you can always be infected. Also, Nicks is 73, it could really affect her in the worst way possible. I don’t know if I could stand for COVID to take away this white-winged dove’s voice. In the meantime, maybe she’ll work on some new music for us! One can dream, right?
