Fans are eager to see the X-Men debut in the MCU and Jennifer Garner looks nothing short of epic in this image as the long-time X-Men, Jean Grey.
Marvel might not have announced any plans for the X-Men just yet, but it’s only a matter of time before the iconic superheroes and villains from the pages of the X-Men comics make their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
From the moment Marvel reobtained the rights to the X-Men franchise as part of Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, fans have been counting down the days until the beloved heroes make their highly anticipated debuts in the MCU.
While we’ve been treated to a handful of X-Men films over the years via two iterations of the franchise, the thought of the X-Men making their way to the MCU is one that has fans feeling invigorated and excited about what the future of both franchises could hold.
When the time comes for the X-Men to arrive in the MCU, it’s expected Marvel will look to re-introduce fans to the franchise’s most iconic heroes including its long-time member Jean Grey.
Following Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner‘s iconic turns as the hero, it’s going to be interesting to see who Marvel might turn to to bring the character to life in the MCU. One possible? Beloved actress Jennifer Garner.
What Jennifer Garner might look like as Jean Grey in the MCU
As fans continue to speculate over who could play Jean Grey in the MCU, digital artist Datrinti Art took to Instagram to share a jaw-dropping edit envisioning Jennifer Garner in full glory as the X-Men’s iconic heroine.
In the stunning concept art, Garner is transformed into Jean Grey with the artist drawing heavy inspiration from the character’s green and yellow Phoenix costume first introduced in the late 70s. Although Garner is, admittedly, not an actress who came to mind early as a possible frontrunner to play Jean in the MCU, the concept art makes quite the compelling argument for why she’d be perfect for the role.
Garner looks absolutely stunning in Jean’s Phoenix costume and we know she has the acting chops to bring an incredible performance if given the chance to join the MCU, but would joining the MCU be of interest to her?
Is Jennifer Garner playing Jean Grey in the MCU?
At this time, it is unclear whether Jennifer Garner might play Jean Grey in the MCU as Marvel has not announced any casting news or plans for the X-Men.
While the concept art absolutely makes a strong argument for why Garner would be perfect in the role, we have to believe the studio might look to cast an actress in her 20s or 30s when looking to introduce Jean Grey into the MCU.
Whether Garner will make her MCU debut be it as Jean Grey or another character, the Elektra actress has noted it was a “shame” she missed the opportunity to appear in the MCU in praising Kevin Feige’s genius in elevating Marvel’s content. Clearly, she’s a fan of what Feige has built with the MCU so one has to imagine she’d be open to joining the franchise should Marvel reach out with an opportunity to do so!
