By Cody Schultz
Fans are eager to see the Fantastic Four join the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Dacre Montgomery being a favorite among fans to play the Human Torch and it’s easy to see why.
The Fantastic Four are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just saying that sentence out loud still seems surreal as it’s a day that Marvel fans had always hoped for, but feared would never come due to the franchise’s complicated rights issue.
Fortunately, when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, the rights to the Fantastic Four finally reverted back to Marvel Studios allowing the studio to bring the first family of Marvel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of the next chapter in the MCU.
From the moment Marvel first confirmed a Fantastic Four movie was in development, fans have been eager to know who Marvel would tap to play the franchise’s iconic heroes: Mr. Incredible, The Invisible Woman, The Thing, and The Human Torch.
While fans can’t stop talking about the possibility of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt suiting up as Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman, the debate over who should play the Human Torch has been much more well-versed with a handful of actor names being tossed around as potential candidates for the role.
Among them has been Stranger Things breakout performer Dacre Montgomery, who we’ve now been given the chance to see suit up in the role thanks to an incredible piece of fanart!
What Dacre Montgomery could look like as Human Torch in the MCU
As speculation over who will play The Human Torch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe wages on, artist Carpaa is giving fans the chance to see what Dacre Montgomery could look like as Johnny Storm via an incredible concept art rendering.
In the jaw-dropping image, Carpaa transforms Montgomery into Johnny Storm with a rendering that sees Montgomery suiting up in the iconic blue and black Fantastic Four uniform. Because this is The Human Torch we’re talking about, no piece of concept art would be complete without the character’s signature flames which the artist beautifully incorporates via their stunning design.
It’s incredible how much Montgomery embodies the character who is known as being one of the bad boys of Marvel, a hero with a bit of an edge, but who’s also loveable and someone you want to root for.
Not only does the concept art show that Montgomery looks the part, but his Stranger Things arc as Billy definitely proves he has what it takes to play a character with an edge and a depth to complicated characters.
Will Dacre Montgomery play the Human Torch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Because Marvel tends to keep casting news under lock and key, it’s not yet known whether Dacre Montgomery will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a role in the franchise’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie. However, there have been reports suggesting Montgomery is very much on Marvel’s radar.
In 2020, We Got This Covered reported that Marvel was eyeing Montgomery as a possible option to bring Wolverine into the MCU after the actor seemed to express interest in the role on social media. Later that year, Small Screen reported that Montgomery was in talks to star as The Human Torch in Jon Watts’ upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
While there has been no confirmation or further information following the original reports, it seems promising that there are rumors circulating that Marvel is interested in working with Montgomery.
It’s clear there seems to be an interest from both parties in working together, which seems to bode well for those hoping to see Montgomery join the MCU. Now lets hope those rumors turn to reality, as we’d love to see Montgomery suiting up as the MCU’s Johnny Storm!
