Gotham is a dark and deadly place and it looks like Batman is quitting as Titans Season 3 brings Dick Grayson home again.

In the first trailer for the third season of DC’s Titans, we finally get a real look at Gotham and the home that Dick walked away from. And yet, it is clear that this is not the home he remembers.

Honestly, this trailer teased more than trouble in Gotham and the arrival of Red Hood, it was the end of an era. Bruce Wayne wants Dick to be a better Batman than he was, and as the leader of the Titans and the newly crowned Nightwing, it sounds like the Titans are about to face more death and destruction than they have ever had to contend with (at least that we have seen).

We finally get to see Barbara Gordon on our screens, we learn that the police are consulting with Scarecrow aka Dr. Crane, and while the Titans might be a team, they still haven’t figured out who they are as heroes (at least Hawk and Dove haven’t). And as Barbara says to Dick, it is crazy to “step into your father’s shoes” (of course she did the same thing, which he points out to her), but at this point, who else is going to be the leader and hero that Gotham needs? It is up to Dick Grayson and the rest of the Titans to be the heroes this city needs.

The Titans are heading to Gotham to deal with chaos and murder

While the first two seasons had their dark moments, based on the trailer for Season 3, it looks like we are going even darker. Robin 2.0 is dead, Red Hood has risen, and Batman is done. It sounds like the world needs the Titans now more than ever.

The fact that we still have Kory’s sister to deal with and the fallout from Gar, Conner, and Krypto being kidnapped to contend with doesn’t even really come into play in this trailer. And that is terrifying, because if those things can be virtually ignored in this teaser for the season, that likely means that the problems in Gotham are going to be even bigger than what we were set up with at the end of Season 2.

Hopefully, the transition from Season 2 to Season 3 makes the story flow and everything makes sense. And we still have questions that need to be answered. But this trailer leaves us with a lot to look forward to as well.
