The Spice Girls are back, baby! Well, sort of. On July 8, 1996, the Western world got to hear the very first Spice Girl song debut,  a track that would change so many lives, for the first time. Twenty-five years later, “Wannabe” is back with a brand new EP single that includes a previously unreleased song.

The special Wannabe 25 anniversary release includes four songs, including the original single, a remix, the demo version, and the previously unreleased track “Feed Your Love”. So it’s like a little bonus gift from the girls – without them having to do anything.

You’ll immediately be transported to the late ’90s holding your walkman while listening to this slow jam. It’s a downtempo, fairly sexy song, with their sultry singing really selling the lyrics.

Following the release of their debut single, The Spice Girls became a household name. They went on to release three albums, perform in five tours, release so many branded products, and even star in a movie about themselves, Spice World. They made a name for themselves in a boy band heavy market and become a standout group for their fun, feminine appeal.

As the years went on, Geri Halliwell, also known as Ginger Spice, left the group. The four remaining members released one final album before going on an indefinite hiatus. All of them went on to find varying degrees of success in their solo lives and careers. Thankfully, they have since made various appearances with each other until returning fully in 2018. Maybe with this new single, we can expect another tour ahead. Maybe even new music. One can hope, right?

The girls celebrated the occasion by posting some throwback pictures on Instgram, as well as video compilations and other memories of their time in the group. Mel B, also known as Scary Spice, wrote in her caption. “We are blessed to be Spice Girls but we are honoured to have the best fans in the world. We wouldn’t be anywhere without you and can’t thank you enough for all the love we’ve had from all of you for two and a half decades.”

You can stream the new single, Wannabe 25, on Spotify, iTunes, Google, or wherever you listen to your music.
