The L Word: Generation Q, the sequel to Showtime’s original drama The L Word, is back for a second season on August 6. Ahead of its return, we have a trailer brimming with plenty of swooning and longing to tide us over until the new season arrives.

When we last left off with Bette, Alice, Shane, and the newbies, they were doing lots of living, laughing, and loving. After losing her race for mayor, Bette was faced with finally dealing with the heartbreak of Tina’s departure…and return.

Meanwhile, Alice struggled to stay afloat with her fiance, Nat, and her very present ex-wife, Gigi as Shane ran a bar and struggled with her own life post-divorce.

There was plenty of drama with the newbies, too, as Sophie and Dani struggled to plan their wedding, and determine if they were even right for each other, while Dani and Finley grew closer.

Where will this season lead? Take your first peek at the season two trailer below:

While the trailer, of course, doesn’t answer our burning questions about the first season finale’s cliffhanger–whether Dani will choose Sophie or Finley–we do get some glimpses of what this season will hold.

First of all, Tina is still sticking around and bringing a girlfriend, Carrie, played by the truly iconic Rosie O’Donnell, with her, further deepening Bette’s existential crisis over her singledom and pushing her into the arms of Gigi, Nat’s ex-wife.

(Yes, The L Word weaves a tangled web, hence Alice’s Chart from the original series.)

Another cliffhanger from last season involved newbie Micah’s boyfriend, Jose, revealing he had a wife. As seen in the trailer above, it appears that Micah has moved on.

It appears the second season has an expanded episode order, ten episodes up from the first season’s eight, giving the show and fans lots of time to explore all these stories and more with their favorite characters.
