Riverdale star KJ Apa is expecting his first child with Clara Berry

Riverdale star KJ Apa is about to become a dad!

The New Zealand actor who plays Archie Andrews on the popular The CW drama shared the life-changing news on Wednesday with a sweet Instagram photo of him and his girlfriend, Clara Berry relaxing on the couch, as her baby bump is on full display.

This will be the first child for both Apa and Berry, and the second child to be born to a Riverdale cast member.  Vanessa Morgan gave birth to a son that she named River four months ago, with the father being her husband, Michael Kopech. Like Apa, Morgan shared the news via social media.  Her pregnancy was written into the fifth season.

Several of KJ’s Riverdale costars extended their love and congratulations to KJ’s post by filling the comments-including Madeline Petsch (Cheryl Blossom), Vanessa Morgan (Toni Topaz)  Madchen Amick (Alice Cooper), and Molly Ringwald who portrays KJ’s mom, Mary Andrews.

In a follow-up post, Berry shared her own set of pregnancy photos, as if to confirm the good news.  In one, the French model is sharing a snuggle with her pomeranian while the last is a closeup of her belly.

“She’s pregnant btw,” Apa said in the comments.

Co-star Camila Mendes (who plays Veronica Lodge) wrote “another neném on the way 👼🏼,” while Lili Reinhart (a.k.a Betty Cooper) dropped three red heart emojis to commemorate the occasion.

Apa and Berry were first linked in August 2020 (although they’ve been together since February 2020) when the actor shared a series of vacation photos on his Instagram of the pair absorbing the sunshine.  In December, the two celebrated Berry’s 27th birthday with a bathroom mirror selfie as he called her “his love.”

Currently, Riverdale is on hiatus and will return on Wednesday nights with the second half of its fifth season on August 11th.
