Below Deck Adventure coming to Bravo in 2022
There are guilty pleasures and then there is Bravo’s Below Deck franchise, which takes guilty pleasures to the next level as viewers follow the exploits of mega-yacht crews and the guests that keep them on their toes. A new spinoff called Below Deck Adventure is setting sail in 2022 and it promises to go where no Below Deck franchise has gone before.
Below Deck launched in 2013 and is now in its eighth season. Captain Lee Rosbach is known as the “stud of the sea” and year after year he’s faced with a mix of seasoned veteran crew members and enough newbies to keep things interesting.
There is also Below Deck Mediterranean, which films in – you guessed it – the Mediterranean Sea under the watchful eye of Captain Sandy Yawn, and there’s also Below Deck Sailing Yacht with Captain Glenn Shephard.
NBCUniversal recently announced its slate of new programming coming to Bravo and lo and behold there’s a new spinoff ready to set sail: Below Deck Adventure.
Below Deck Adventure promises to be unlike any other incarnation of the series
Unlike other Below Deck franchises, which tend to remain firmly rooted in warmer climes, the first season of Below Deck Adventure will plot a course for the icy fjords of Norway. Instead of picnics on sunny beaches, guests will experience what it’s like to live in the lap of luxury when the temperature dips below zero.
THR provided the official description of the new show:
"Below Deck Adventure – Premieres Early 2022This new series takes wealthy thrill-seekers on the mega-yacht trip of a lifetime to experience thrilling YOLO adventures and daredevil activities all against some of the world’s most beautiful backdrops. Season one will be set in the glacial fjords of Norway where charter guests will dog sled, heli ski and cold-water plunge their way through the day, dine on freshly caught seafood straight from the Scandinavian waters in the evening, and still get all steamed up in the hot tub by night. The exacting expectations of high-end luxury coupled with the physical demands of cold-weather adventures will push the crew to new heights and unparalleled pressures that makes this new series one-of-a-kind."
There have been no cast announcements as yet so we don’t know who the plucky captain helming these adventures will be, but whoever it is will have to be an industry veteran because things can turn deadly very quickly in the chilly Scandinavian waters.
Shed Media will produce the new series, with the team of Lisa Shannon, Dan Peirson, Mark Cronan and Grace Lee serving as executive producers. Lee will also serve as the showrunner.
