The Simpsons to debut Star Wars-themed short for Star Wars Day
In celebration of Star Wars Day, The Simpsons will launch a Star Wars-themed short exclusively on Disney+. The short, appropriately titled, Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens From Its Nap; will introduce the Star Wars world to Springfield.
The Simpsons are famously (and comically) known for pop and societal culture parodies and touching base with the Star Wars franchise was only natural. Both mediums are owned by Disney, so it was only a matter of time before the two forces met and crossed over.
Disney Plus Media released the official synopsis for the short:
"In a daycare far, far away… but still in Springfield, Maggie is on an epic quest for her stolen pacifier. Her adventure brings her face-to-face with young Padawans, Sith Lords, familiar droids, Rebel scum, and an ultimate battle against the dark side, in this original short celebrating the Star Wars galaxy."
Disney+also dropped a special Star Wars-themed bit of The Simpsons key art, featuring Maggie, BB-8, and Gerald Samson (the unibrow baby) as Darth Maul in an epic lightsaber frame.

Disney+ celebrates Star Wars Day with new content including The Simpsons
Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens From Its Nap will be the first of several The Simpsons shorts released this year that will highlight and pay tribute to Disney’s major brands and titles.
Two other Simpsons shorts are available on the streaming platform, including Oscar-nominated The Longest Daycare and Playdate With Destiny.
Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens From Its Longest Nap’ will debut May 4th on Disney+ at 3 PM EST in the US. The short is one of the newest bits of Star Wars-related content that will be available in celebration of Star Wars Day.
The Simpsons was renewed for two additional seasons earlier this year, making it the longest primetime series in television history. The show also surpassed 700 episodes this season with the installment called “Manager Things”.
