AHS star Finn Wittrock to suit up as Guy Gardner in Green Lantern

Finn Wittrock is exchanging horror for heroes as he jumps into action as Guy Gardner in the upcoming HBO Max series Green Lantern. Guy Gardner will be one of many Lanterns seen throughout the series, which will span “decades and galaxies.”

Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros. TV are responsible for the new series, which promises to explore the Green Lantern history with familiar faces and new ones as well.

According to the official show description, “Green Lantern reinvents the classic DC property through a story spannin decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern, secretly gay FBI agent Alan Scott, and 1984, with cocky alpha male Guy Gardner and half-alien Bree Jarta. They’ll be joined by a multitude of other Lanterns – from comic book favorites to never-before-seen heroes.”

Finn Wittrock will film Green Lantern ahead of Ratched

Berlanti’s Green Lantern series will reportedly be the most expensive project of his career, which makes sense given all of the special effects that go into bringing Lanterns (and their special powers) to life.

Wittrock, who has appeared in several seasons of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story, recently finished filming AHS season 10 and has been in a holding pattern ahead of working on the second season of Murphy’s Ratched. THR’s sources say that Berlanti and Murphy worked out a deal to allow Wittrock to work on Green Lantern (which films this year) ahead of Ratched since Murphy’s show doesn’t have a start date.

With so many Green Lanterns to choose from, it seems like a matter of time before another casting announcement comes for other members of the team like Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz. Though many fans were hoping to see John Stewart’s Lantern be the focus of Berlanti’s series, it’s quite possible that John Stewart is being held back so that he can join the Justice League in the future.
