Fans are eager to see Emma Watson join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and now we have our first look at what she could look like as Clea in Doctor Strange 2.

While there is a lot to look forward to in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s no denying that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is quickly emerging as one of the most-talked-about Marvel projects in the works.

Little is known about the plot of the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange, but one that’s certain is that the film has the potential to be one of Marvel’s biggest Phase 4 titles and could be a game-changer for the MCU. So far we know the film will feature the returns of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Benedict Wong as Wong, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and Chiwetel Ejiofor as the villainous Karl Mordo.

The movie is also said to introduce Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez; however, outside of Gomez, there is little known about prospective new characters who could join the film’s ensemble. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating with sorceress Clea emerging as a favorite to be introduced in the follow-up film.

Who is Clea in the Marvel Universe?

In the pages of the Marvel comics, Clea is a sorceress with a rich and romantic history with Doctor Strange. Heir to the Dark Dimension, Clea first crosses paths with Doctor Stange in the comics when Doctor Strange makes his way to the Dark Dimension to battle Dormammu.

The two eventually become romantically involved with Clea becoming Doctor Strange’s romantic partner and disciple, often battling alongside him as a trusted ally.

What Emma Watson could look like as Clea in Doctor Strange 2

With speculation over Clea’s introduction looming, there has been growing buzz over which actress could be tapped to take on the iconic Marvel role. Interestingly, one actress who has emerged as a strong candidate to play the sorceress is someone who is quite familiar with playing a magical character: Harry Potter alum Emma Watson.

Fans have long hoped to see Watson cast in a Marvel project and what better way to bring her into the MCU than with a magical character such as Clea. Watson has proven she can carry herself in larger franchises and a magical role would be right in her wheelhouse.

Thanks to artist ApexForm, we now have our first look at just what Watson could look like in the role.

Inspired by reports that Marvel was looking to cast Clea in Doctor Strange 2 with Watson as a frontrunner for the role, ApexForm transforms Watson into the powerful sorceress with a modern spin on the character’s iconic black and purple super suit which almost seems to have drawn some inspiration from the suit worn by Cate Blanchett’s Hela.

Set against the backdrop of the Sanctum Sanctorum, the concept art is put over the top with Marvel’s iconic magical elements including glowing purple eyes — because nothing says powerful, magical baddie like glowing eyes as WandaVision proved — and purple-hued energy flowing through her hands.

Has Emma Watson met with Marvel about joining the MCU in Doctor Strange 2?

Marvel is notorious for managing to pull off surprise casting moves and keeping those decisions under wraps — as we saw most frequently with the introduction of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier — so there is a chance Watson could have joined Doctor Stranger 2.

At this time, there have been no official reports announcing Emma Watson’s casting in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Watson is an actress that has apparently been on Marvel’s radar for some time now.

Back in 2019, Watson was reported to be at the top of Marvel’s wishlist for a key role in Black Widow. While that role went to Florence Pugh, the fact that Marvel seems to have an interest in working with the actress is a positive sign and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would definitely be a perfect project to bring her into the mix.

As this concept art proves, there is no denying Watson would be perfect in the role should Marvel call upon her to play Clea!
