X-Men: Henry Cavill suits up as Wolverine in jaw-dropping new image

Wolverine will soon be making his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and thanks to a stunning new image we have our first look at what Henry Cavill could look like in the role.

The X-Men are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s starting to look like their arrival could come sooner than anticipated.

While Marvel has not yet revealed any official plans for the X-Men characters, recent reports suggest the studio is very much planning for the future and looking to bring the X-Men into the fold not just with its cinematic franchises but on Disney Plus as well.

According to recent reports, Marvel is rumored to be developing an anthology series for Disney Plus which will be built around one of the most popular X-Men characters of all time: Wolverine.  As rumor has it, the plan would be for each season of the show to tell a self-contained storyline inspired by various events from the character’s rich comic book history.

Given Wolverine’s status as not just one of the most popular X-Men characters, but one of the most beloved superheroes in Marvel history, it’s not surprising to hear that Marvel is reportedly developing a series built around the character. If a series is indeed in the works, it seems like only a matter of time before casting rumors began ramping up regarding who will play the iconic hero.

There is no shortage of actors whose names have been tossed around since Marvel acquired the rights to the X-Men with the acquisition of the characters from 20th Century Fox. From Daniel Radcliffe to Tom Hardy, fans have a lot of ideas about who should play the character and thanks to incredible artists we’ve gotten the chance to see what many of these actors could look like as the character.

Now, with the help of yet another talented artist, we’ve been given the chance to see what The Witcher actor Henry Cavill could look like as Wolverine!

What Henry Cavill could look like as Wolverine in the MCU

With Wolverine eyeing his MCU debut, artist Dalton “Checkers” Barrett has provided fans with their first look at Henry Cavill in character as Wolverine and we have to admit the concept art makes quite the compelling case for Marvel to consider him for the role.

In the jaw-dropping new art, Cavill trades in his iconic blue and red Superman suit for Wolverine’s equally iconic suit which is given a modern transformation fit for the MCU. Of course, no Wolverine concept art would be complete without the character’s signature adamantium claws and ducktail combination hairstyle, which Cavill effortlessly pulls off!

Cavill is no stranger to playing heroes on the big screen having previously played the Man of Steel in the DC Extended Universe, so we know he’s more than capable of carrying a big-budget superhero franchise with ease…. and we also know he’s also more than capable of looking the part of a larger than life superhero which is always a plus.

Considering his days as Superman seems to be over, we can’t think of a better follow-up role than Wolverine and Barrett’s art makes a strong argument for why Marvel shouldn’t rule Cavill out when casting begins!
