Chrissy Teigen returns to Twitter after three week hiatus
Three weeks after deactivating her account, Chrissy Teigen is officially back on Twitter.
The mother, supermodel, author, cook, and wife to musician John Legend deactivated her account nearly three weeks ago, citing the often pervasive sense of negativity on the platform
Turns out she couldn’t stay away for long, however, proving she’s just as addicted to tweeting as the rest of us. The 35-year-old announced her return this week, insisting that it felt “terrible” to silence herself, and
It was then followed by a reply explaining that to survive on any kind of social media you must take the “good and the bad”.
Over the course of her decade of Twitter activity, Teigen has been open and honest about many aspects of her life, including the loss of her baby, Jack, in the hopes of bringing comfort to others who have shared a similar experience.
She lost Jack last October at twenty weeks in her pregnancy and took to Instagram to share the crushing news with a series of black and white photos. While most congratulated her bravery and well intentions, others dropped harsh criticism. It was the criticism and personal attacks that helped drive Teigen’s decision to leave Twitter on March 24th.
Though Teigen has ventured off and on Twitter before over the course of her ten-year tenure on the platform, this near-month absence has certainly been the longest. As it turns out, her mental health simply could not take the negativity.
Additionally, Teigen’s plant-based cleaning solutions business collaboration (called Safely) with Keeping Up With The Kardashians matriarch Kris Jenner received tons of backlash, and some fans called her a “sellout”.
Upon her return, several of Teigen’s celebrity friends including Chelsea Clinton welcomed her back with open arms, But what has Teigen been doing over the past 23 days without tweeting? In a (hilarious) answer to a fan, she shared what she did during her time off.
Welcome back, Chrissy. Just don’t let the naysayers bring you down.
