With Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier already halfway through, the studio has dropped the trailer for its next Disney+ series, which will see Loki — back from the dead thanks to a time-travel mishap in Avengers: Endgame — going on yet another adventure through time and space. And judging by the new Loki trailer, fans are about to join the god of mischief on a wild ride.

Following on the heels of two series that have centered on more serious topics, covering everything from institutional racism in America to PTSD and grief, Loki looks to be a more lighthearted story than WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, even if its implications for the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe will likely be huge.

Centering on Loki’s run-in with the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the series will see him embarking on a mission to fix the flow of time, which it looks like he may have broken when he picked up the Tesseract in Endgame.

What the Loki trailer tells us about the upcoming Disney+ series

Apart from getting further details about the actual plot of Loki, one of the most exciting aspects of the new trailer is that it finally gives fans some insight into Owen Wilson’s character, Mobius M. Mobius, along with the TVA in general.

With Mobius M. Mobius, the series seems to be sticking to the character’s comics origins, portraying him as a higher-ranking member of the TVA. It’s clear from the new footage that he and Loki have plenty of onscreen chemistry, which will surely be one of the highlights of the show — especially since they’re likely to turn on each other at some point. (That’s just Loki’s nature, isn’t it?)

This entertaining banter and battle of the minds isn’t the only reason to get excited about Marvel’s upcoming series though. With the studio building up to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, it’s possible whatever Loki does here will affect the Avengers’ reality going forward. After all, Endgame proved that time travel doesn’t come without consequences.
