The gang is getting back together again as the main four cast members of Disney’s Enchanted return for the highly anticipated sequel, Disenchanted. Collider reports that according to composer Alan Menken, James Marsden and Idina Menzel will be back for the new movie, joining already confirmed Amy Adam and Patrick Dempsey.

Menken also noted that the film is in production and it’s “really good.”

Enchanted became an instant classic after its release in 2007. The movie blended live action and animation, much like Mary Poppins, and it answered the question of what would happen if a Disney princess suddenly came to life in the real world.

The movie was enchanting, to say the least, and left fans with catchy tunes like “That’s How You Know” and “Happy Working Song.”

Enchanted sequel will explore the other side of the real-world fantasy

Fans will remember that Marsden and Menzel ended up married at the end of Enchanted, only they were in the animated realm of Andalasia while Adams and Dempsey remained in the real world.

In the sequel, reportedly set a decade after the original movie, Giselle (Adams) is having trouble with the way things turned out after meeting Robert (Dempsey) and getting the happily ever after she was meant to have, and it leads to issues in her life in the real world as well as in Andalasia.

In a way, it’s sad to think that Giselle could ever be unhappy, but it’s important to remember that it was when she was unhappy that she realized Robert was her true love.

It’s unclear whether any other cast members from the first movie will appear in the sequel, which will premiere exclusively on Disney+ as part of the streamer’s plan to expand its library of original content. The movie will be a big draw for fans of the original film, and could help boost subscribers too.

There is no release date for Disenchanted available as of this writing, but it will likely premiere later this year.
