Last month, actress and former MMA fighter Gina Carano was fired from The Mandalorian following a series of inflammatory social media posts that covered included mocking mask-wearing during the coronavirus pandemic, sharing misinformation about the 2020 election, and more.

Disney called her controversial tweets “abhorrent and unacceptable,” and though some fans were upset about this decision, they’ve stood by it in the weeks since.

Carano played New Republic marshal Cara Dune on the popular Disney+ Star Wars spinoff and though The Mandalorian has been renewed for a third season, there’s no word yet on how the show will handle her departure once season 3 begins filming. Will she be MIA? Recast?

The disappearance of merchandise related to her character, however, seems to be another matter entirely. It appears that Disney and Funko have already ceased production on the tie-in Cara Dune Funko Pop figure.  While a formal explanation of why the decision was made that hasn’t been disclosed, it could be another response to Carano’s departure from Disney and Lucasfilm.  It would all make sense if that was the case.

Instagram user Dis. Pops, an account that shares posts about Funko news, got a message from retailer Entertainment Earth that the figure had been discontinued.

Furthermore, Disney also appears to have discontinued all Cara Dune-themed merchandise in both its online and retail stores. We can take this as a further indication that Disney aims to sever all connections with Carano’s character.

Cara Dune only appeared in a handful of episodes of The Mandalorian season 2, which was primarily focused on Grogu’s (The Child/Baby Yoda) origins and a search for a Jedi to help the young creature understand his abilities.  In the season finale, a young Luke Skywalker takes Grogu away from his adoptive father Din DJarin to start Jedi training.  It was a tearful departure for both, but Mando assures his adoptive young son that they’ll meet again.

Other The Mandalorian Pops are still widely available such as Grogu and The Mandalorian himself.
