It looks like Iris West is going to be sticking around in the DC Extended Universe!

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Kiersey Clemons will be reprising her role as West in DC Films’ upcoming film The Flash.

Clemons was set to make her introduction in Justice League, but her scenes were cut from the movie. Now, with Zack Snyder’s  Justice League set to premiere on March 18 on HBO Max, Clemons will finally make her debut as West.

West is the main love interest of Barry Allen, played by Ezra Miller in the DCEU, and is an intrepid reporter who has investigated who is actually The Flash in the comics. Clemons’ inclusion as West in the first trailers for Justice League is one of the main reasons the “Release the Snyder Cut” movement was so adamant about their mission.

The scene in question shows Miller’s Allen saving Clemon’s West from a car crash, a moment that was notably missing from the final cut of the movie, which was released in 2017. This, along with several other missing or altered scenes, set the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement on its course to pressure Warner Bros. to allow Snyder to finish his version of the movie.

With that movement proving successful, and the inclusion of Clemons in the upcoming Flash movie, speculation is now turning to the possibility of a continuation of the Snyder version of the DCEU. Snyder has recently been quoted as saying the Joss Whedon version of the movie is canon to the DCEU, but the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse has gained traction in the last few days, and will only grow with this news and the release of the movie.

The Flash will also star Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle and will be directed by Andy Muschietti. The film is set to begin filming in London this April, with a release scheduled for Nov. 4, 2022. The movie is said to be loosely based on the comic storyline Flashpoint, where reality is fractured and The Flash must set everything back to normal.
