This week’s episode of Saturday Night Live gave us one of the most relatable sketches yet! Because who among us hasn’t sat in their rooms and just cried while listening to driver’s license on repeat. We all have, right? Please say yes.

Olivia Rodrigo released the song driver’s license and it has taken over. From a TikTok meme to everyone listening to it on repeat, it seems as if we all just want to feel those teenage emotions and pain once again.

About a break-up that Rodrigo is reminded of when she finally gets her driver’s license, the song fits into that age when a heartbreak can feel as if the world is crashing in on you. So how did Saturday Night Live bring it into a sketch?

Byhaving a bunch of guys play pool while the song played in the background.

It’s one of the sketches that Saturday Night Live does best. Calling out the weird masculinity that keeps men from accepting that songs like “drivers license” are good or whatever other excuses there are.

It’s the same kind of sketch the show did with Mika’s “Lollipop” when Don Cheadle hosted and it is just a fun way of looking at popular music while honoring why we’re all obsessed with the song in question.

Olivia Rodrigo posted about the show doing a sketch of her song on her 18th birthday and was clearly excited about the jokes!

The sketch itself is wonderfully fun and getting to see how excited Rodrigo was about having it included made the entire thing just that much sweeter!

And, as Kate McKinnon says in the sketch, Rodrigo did give us the bridge of our lives with “drivers license” and Saturday Night Live should recognize how brilliant that song and Olivia Rodrigo are.
