Schitt’s Creek star Annie Murphy is taking a harsh turn from Alexis Rose in her new AMC series, Kevin Can F**k Himself. Murphy will be taking on the lead role of the show, a sitcom wife who turns deadly once she tires of dealing with her husband and his degrading behavior.

The just-released trailer for the show sees Murphy’s character breaking as she realizes how unhappy she is with the life she’s living — and contemplating murder in that moment.

Playing off of classic sitcom tropes, Kevin Can F**k Himself is setting itself up to tackle the misogyny so often showcased in this genre of television — and television in general — in a dark and hilarious way. The show seems to be loosely inspired by the CBS series Kevin Can Wait, which has been criticized for killing Erinn Hayes’ character.

Although the trailer footage opens with Allison  making breakfast and acting like the “perfect wife,” it quickly transitions to all that’s wrong in her marriage — most of which stems from her husband’s self-centered attitude toward her. “It has to stop,” she says desperately. And judging by the rest of the footage, she’ll find a way to make that happen.

The trailer is pretty straightforward about what topics will be covered in Murphy’s new AMC series, and the official synopsis for the upcoming show (per Collider) confirms everything the footage suggests:

"“This is a story about a woman who keeps playing a perfect housewife. Then, one day she realizes what she wants: to kill her husband.”"

Whether Murphy’s character will actually succeed in killing Kevin remains a mystery (and reason to tune in and find out).

The show’s creator, Valerie Armstrong, wanted the series to be “less relevant” prior to releasing it — something she told Deadline hasn’t yet happened.

“I think stories about women being overlooked are sadly going to be relevant for a while, and it’s going to connect deeply with people for a long time,” Armstrong said.

In addition to the Schitt‘s Creek alum, cast members for Kevin Can F**k Himself include Eric Peterson, Mary Hollis Inboden, Alex Bonifer, Brian Howe, Candice Coke, Meghan Leathers, and Raymond Lee. Craig DiGregorio will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Will McCormack, Rashida Jones will also executive produce.
