Zack Snyder is helping build the hype for his upcoming 4-hour opus Zack Snyder’s Justice League with the release of short micro-teasers ahead of February 14’s official trailer debut. The Snyder Cut, as the project has become known, is coming to HBO Max on March 19. With just over a month before the movie’s release the buzz is reaching a fever pitch.

Snyder announced during the Super Bowl that a new trailer for the movie is coming on February 14, Valentine’s Day, but he has been dropping little micro-teasers, each roughly 15 seconds, with lots of little hints about what’s coming.

The February 11 teaser features a closer look at Snyder’s Steppenwolf, who has been given a complete refresh from the version appearing in the Joss Whedon version of Justice League.

The second micro-teaser, released February 12, had fans talking because of one brief shot that seemed to depict Darkseid, ruler of Apokolips, and a mysterious woman standing at his side. After much speculation, one social media user was able to confirm from Snyder that the woman is none other than his loyal general Granny Goodness.

Granny Goodness confirmed to be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League

Though her name makes her sound like a nice person, Granny Goodness is known for her merciless tactics and never ending loyalty to Darkseid. She’s a member of the New Gods and she trained the Female Furies, including Big Barda (who later escapes Apokolips with Mister Miracle).

All it took was the briefest of glances at Granny Goodness to send social media buzzing about the cameos in the movie and what might be coming in the new trailer. It would make the most sense to see Granny Goodness during an expanded invasion scene, but since she’s immortal and she’s one of the New Gods it’s possible that her presence sets up a story that would have led to a future Snyder project or a tie-in with another upcoming project.

In fact, Ava DuVernay is currently working on a New Gods movie that will feature the Female Furies. The screenplay is being developed in part by Tom King, the DC Comics writer who wrote the award-winning Mister Miracle miniseries. It’s quite possible that Snyder was tasked with bridging the gap between Justice League and the New Gods project and now he’s making sure that Granny Goodness is getting the introduction she deserves.

For DC Comics fans and fans of Snyder’s work, the Snyder Cut rights the wrongs of the 2017 Justice League film that stripped away much of his vision for the film that was supposed to launch the DC Extended Universe into high gear.

With roughly a month to go until the movie comes out, Snyder’s micro-teasers and the new trailer are doing a great job keeping excitement for the project at a fever pitch.
