Kate Winslet’s upcoming HBO limited series Mare of Easttown has an official premiere date, and it’s sooner than many likely expected. (News you can use: It’s pronounced “mare” like a horse by the way.)

During its bi-annual presentation to the Television Critics Association this week, Warner Media announced that the seven-part series will premiere on Sunday, April 18 at 10 pm.  Each episode will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Emmy Award-winner, Winslet stars as Mare Sheehan, a small-town Pennsylvania detective who must investigate a local murder as her own life crumbles around her. The series is billed as an “exploration into the dark side of a close community and an authentic examination of how family and past tragedies can define our present.”

The limited series marks Winslet’s first TV role in more than a decade and serves as a reunion on many fronts, as Winslet is once again reteaming with her former co-star Guy Pearce, who also appeared opposite her in HBO drama Mildred Pierce.

Other notable figures in the series’ all-star cast include Julianne Nicholson as Lori Ross, Mare’s best friend since childhood; the Emmy-nominated Jean Smart as her mother Helen; and Evan Peter’s as Detective Colin Zabel, the county detective called in to assist with Mare’s investigation.

Many of the cast members have worked on HBO series in the past, from Nicholson’s recent role on The Outsider and Smart’s memorable turn on Watchmen.  Director Craig Zobel is also returning to the network to helm all seven episodes. Zobel is likely best known for his work on HBO drama The Leftovers, where he directed a trio of near-perfect episodes. (For the record: Season 2’s “Lens” and “International Assassins”, and season 3’s “The Most Powerful Man in the World”.

One has to assume that since the impending premiere is so close, we can’t be that far away from seeing a trailer, but nothing has landed just yet.
